Federica Ranghieri

Senior Urban Specialist

Bio

Federica is Senior Urban Specialist at the World Bank. She joined the World Bank in 2004 with the Carbon Finance Business Unit where she contributed to the development of the Italian Carbon Fund and from 2007 with EASSD (East Asia Sustainable Development Dept) on Climate Change – Mitigation and Adaptation policies and Disaster Risk Management, with a particular focus on China, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. She is actually coordinating the DRM and Climate Change Adaptation Program at urban level at WBI and is leading the Learning from Mega Disasters program. Her last assignment before joining the World Bank was as assistant professor at the University of Milan, where she taught undergraduate Environmental Policies and post graduate Environmental and Social Communication. As a Senior Consultant for IADB – InterAmerican Development Bank, she co-managed the project ‘Strategies to foster adoption of CSR Practices in Latin American Countries’. She was senior fellow at FEEM – Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, from 1994 to 2000, where coordinated EU funded projects on environmental accounting and communication and developed innovative projects with the private sector, namely with Oil and gas, chemical and telecom European major players.

Federica owns a MA in Economic and Social Studies from Bocconi University, Milan, a MA in International Services from the American University and a post graduate certificate in Environmental Economics from the Harvard Institute for International Development.
