Bio

James S. White, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology in the Perelman School of Medicine, where he participates in the teaching of a number of courses, including Human Gross Anatomy, Cell and Tissue Biology, and Brain and Behavior to first-year medical students. Dr. White has been teaching at the University of Pennsylvania for over 20 years. Dr. White received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1973 from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA, and received a Ph.D. in Anatomy in 1979 from The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. White has written two review books in Anatomy, USMLE Road Map Neuroscience, and USMLE Road Map Gross Anatomy, both published by McGraw-Hill. Dr. White has received over 20 teaching awards including the 2006 Provost's Award for Distinguished Teaching at the University of Pennsylvania, and the 2000 and 2011 Dean's Award for Excellence in Basic Science Teaching at the Perelman School of Medicine. In 2010, Dr. White was elected as an honorary member to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
