Bio

With a background in English Literature lecturing and teaching, Laura joined the University of London’s Careers Group in 2004 as Careers Consultant. Now a Senior Careers Consultant, Laura has worked with undergraduates, postgraduates and research staff at University College London, King’s College London and Queen Mary, University of London. Working with C2 Careers Consultancy, part of the University of London, Laura has also provided individual careers guidance to a diverse range of individuals, from doctors in training to mid-career professionals, from junior staff to executives. Furthermore, Laura has also delivered employability skills workshops to a wide variety of professional and academic organisations, including the British Medical Association headquarters in London, the European Academic Institute in Florence, Italy and European Bioinformatics Institute at Cambridge.

In addition to her UK based work, Laura has worked in Nagasaki, Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher. In 2010 she took a six month sabbatical with Voluntary Service Overseas and worked as a Regional English Language Quality Improvement Programme Advisor at the Regional Education Bureau in Awassa, Ethiopia.

Laura has a first degree in English Literature from Royal Holloway, University in London, a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from Goldsmith’s College, University of London and an MSc Organisational Behaviour from the School of Management and Occupational Psychology, Birkbeck College, University of London. She has written several careers articles for The British Medical Journal Career publications and for Phoenix, the journal of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services in the UK.
