Bio

Dr. Matthew Davis is an active primary care physician and a health policy educator and researcher at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Davis leads the curricular sequence in health economics and policy at the University of Michigan Medical School, and he also teaches regularly about healthcare reform at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the university. As an educator, Dr. Davis has received multiple teaching awards from students at undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. As a researcher, Dr. Davis has published over 170 peer-reviewed articles on a wide variety of policy topics, and he was honored with the national Nemours Award in child health services research in 2007. He is a board-certified pediatrician and internist who provides primary care for patients of all ages – and through his practice has a ‘ground-level’ view of health policy in the United States. Dr. Davis received his M.D. cum laude from Harvard Medical School and his M.A. in public policy from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. He also served as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar. As of March 2013, Dr. Davis also serves in the capacity of the Chief Medical Executive of the State of Michigan, within the Department of Community Health.
