Birger Langkjær

Bio

Birger Langkjær, is associate professor and PhD in film and media studies, Department of Media, Cognition and Communication, University of Copenhagen. He is a specialist in film sound and music, in cognitive film theory and in Danish and Scandinavian cinema. Besides articles in international journals and anthologies on film realism, film sound, cognitive film theory, dogma 95, short films and narrative form, he has published three monographs (in Danish): Realism in Danish Cinema (2012), The Listening Viewer: Perception of Sound and Music in Film (2000) and Film sound & Film Music: From Classical to Modern Film (1996). He was editor-in-chief on MedieKultur (2007-2010) and editor on SoundEffects (2011-2012).
