Hi, we are here today to learn about what follows after 3D
Printing Application course that you are right now in.
So you've learned from Professor Alec 3D Printing, the revolution in 3D Printing.
And in this course, 3D Printing Applications you've learned a lot about
all the different ways in which people, entrepreneurs and
industries are using 3D printing as in a couple of the case studies.
So we are now moving on to building some skills in 3D modeling software.
And this last module in this course,
you've learned about design thinking as well.
As a sort of a process around solving problems.
Going from ideas to actually creating new things.
So we are very fortunate to have Jeff Smith from Autodesk,
who will be leading you in the software course to get your ideas on paper,
in a digital medium and onwards.
So thank you, Jeff, for joining us and telling us about your course.
>> Vishal, I'm really excited to do this course right now and though my goal for
the learners is to teach them how to capture their ideas.
How to get them on paper or digital medium and
how to take ideas from that sketch standpoint onto a digital medium for 3D.
How do I explore my ideas?
How do I take ideas and make them reality in the 3D environment and
then ultimately leverage your 3D printing skills as well.
>> In your course, you're starting as you said with the sketches and
then moving up from there to 3D modeling tools.
Give us a sense of at the end of your course,
what are learners working out with?
>> My goal for learners that participate in my course, I want to empower them.
I want to empower them to be confident at capturing ideas on paper.
And I want to empower them with tool sets that allow them to capture their designs,
capture their process, develop ideas in the 3D world.
Because without 3D CAD, you don't have any 3D printing,
you have to have something to build ultimately.
And the goal here is to give them the confidence and
skill sets to flush out their ideas in a digital environment.
>> Given my sense of what the audience typically is and
we've done some other Coursera courses.
So we get people from all over the world.
And this specialization is also being designed for
the absolute beginners who are just interested.
Who are saying hey, let me find out what this is all about.
There are some who might be entrepreneurs.
There might be some who say, I have a problem, I want to fix it.
Or there might be some who are saying I need some skill building potentially
at my work.
