Welcome to achieving your optimal performance.
Optimal performance is of course of great interest to employers.
But, we also believe it's important to employees.
If you understand what it is you need to do,
the tools you need to be successful in the workplace,
you will perform at an optimum level and in
that way be ready for new career opportunities and for increased assignments.
It's not easy, but through this course you will be exposed to ideas and tools,
that promise success in the workplace over multiple years.
My name is Mary Walshock.
I'm a sociologist and at UC San Diego,
I'm Associate Vice Chancellor for public programs and dean of extension.
I've devoted my career to linking the university to the workplace.
To listening to what employers are looking for in their employees,
especially those employers who are developing new products,
new companies that are serving new markets.
In order to be successful in companies like that,
you have to know a lot about yourself.
And, you have to be able to match your knowledge with
your workplace goals or even better yet increase your knowledge,
adapt to your knowledge as the requirements of the workplace change.
You're entering the workforce for the first time,
you're looking to move ahead in your career or you're having to
pivot mid-career into a new industry.
You need to understand what it requires to
operate at the optimum level and this course will help you.
Thank you for joining us.
We welcome your feedback and hope you stay connected to our career success community.
