Hello everyone, Katherine here.
In this course, I'm going to be taking the lead on the topic of Creative Diversity
and I've got three reasons why I think it's so important to learn about.
First of all, the world is full of problems that are complex and challenging.
They can't be solved by one person or one kind of idea or one approach.
Think about educating the world, like this MOOC.
We have people learning in different ways.
We have teachers teaching in different ways.
And all of that is necessary in order for people to get the best education they can.
So, we need Creative Diversity to survive and to thrive.
Second, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions about creativity and
some of them are downright dangerous.
For example, some people say that creativity only happens in certain jobs
and not others or they want us to believe that only certain ideas are creative and
they ignore the rest.
Those myths are dangerous because they make people stifle or change their ideas.
But worst of all, they've stopped them from believing that they can make
positive changes in their lives.
Finally, Creative Diversity is one of the most powerful and
practical tools I know to help you understand and
appreciate how people think, act, and make decisions differently.
We have to learn to collaborate.
We don't do it naturally.
The principles of Creative Diversity will help you work with others more smoothly
and effectively.
And at the same time, make sure your ideas are being heard.
I want to show you how creative you already are.
I want to help you discover how your personal contribution
fits into the grand tapestry of Creative Diversity.
