  • This course is completely online, so there’s no need to show up to a classroom in person. You can access your lectures, readings and assignments anytime and anywhere via the web or your mobile device.

  • The time varies depending on the frequency with which courses are offered, but many students complete the specialization within 6 months.

  • This specialization was designed for business professionals and executives with an intermediate level of English. This means you can hold basic conversations in English, you can read, understand, and write simple emails, and you can understand some of what you hear in the English language news.

    More specifically, your linguistic competence can be measured by your scores on the TOEFL iBT or IELTS exams. A minimum score of 4 on the IELTS exam or 31 or higher on the TOEFL iBT exam indicate an intermediate level. (Obtaining official test scores is not necessary to participate in the specialization. These scores serve only as a point of reference for learners.)

  • It is not required that you take the courses in the order they are presented. However, the course "Business English: Management and Leadership" is a good introduction to the rest of courses in this specialization.

  • The courses and the Coursera certificate are not equivalent to university credits, although some universities may recognize them. Check with your institution for more information.

  • Read and write information related to business communications using up-to-date terminology. Understand the vocabulary currently used in leadership, management, and finance. Complete various business-related writing tasks, including marketing on social media, business proposals, emails, executive summaries, and transcripts of a meeting. Use effective communication skills in a business meeting, a formal presentation, or a sales pitch for a product. Use the common linguistic structures of informal conversation, negotiation, persuasion, networking, professional presentations, and more.
